Judge Valley is New Zealand’s only exclusively-bordeaux-variety vineyard, and is set in the beauty and rolling hills in the heart of The Waikato…. …..New Zealand’s traditional food basket.

Established in 1997, Judge Valley Vineyard and Wine has evolved from a few ‘aesthetic’ vines planted in the ‘house-paddock’ by Kevin-the red-wine-loving-dairy-farmer…to an ongoing driven dedication…… to be the best at what we do.

Our passion is to produce the very best Single-Vineyard wines of Export Quality that reflect the freshness and fruitful abundance of the Waikato region.

All vines have been sourced from professional grapevine nurseries, are grafted to suitable rootstocks, and are disease-resistant.

Our first vines were planted 12 years ago, and now provide wine with great character and complexity.

Planting follows the contour of the land, and the use of steep north-facing slopes allows us to make maximum use of all available sunshine, and also provides the desired frost and water drainage.

Our clay-based ash soils and sheltered micro-climate are ideally suited to growing great bordeaux-style wines, and we complement this with intensive hand-management in the vineyard, and use of genuine French Oak Barriques at the winery.

We have three ‘mini’ vineyards, totalling 7,200 vines, producing 1500 cases pa.

Each vineyard has all three Bordeaux-varieties that Judge Valley grows:
Cabernet franc
Merlot
Malbec

All Judge Valley Wine is fully traceable, and we are well on the way to achieving CarboNZero accreditation.
